Reed River Kennel

Reed River Kennel is located in Northern Minnesota and our passion is to pass along the joy our Picardy Spaniels have brought to us.  We have 2 females and this will be our 4th litter.  We spend countless hours outdoors hunting ducks, geese, grouse, sharp tail, woodcock and pheasant.  We strive to breed dogs with good temperament and excellent hunting ability while also meeting the breed standards as well as introducing wonderful companions to the home.   

CastIron Cleo’s Beau Geste, “Beau” has demonstrated strong natural hunting ability from the start.  As a young pup he showed intense interest in birds along with a naturally cooperative nature.  At 12 weeks old we were shooting birds over him and he was retrieving to hand.  These strong natural instincts were confirmed with a NAVHDA NA test score of 108/112 points with all 4s in the field and water portions of the test.  His first hunting season he continued to show keen desire, an intense point and a natural retrieve.  He searches broadly across the field combing through all likely sources of birds.  In the home Beau is calm, affectionate and eager to please.  Beau is 58 lbs and measures 23” tall over the withers. He’s a lean, muscular young male with a dense coat and very good structure and conformation to the breed standard. 

Reed River’s Tuula is the daughter of our original female (Nyda’s), who was imported from France in 2018.  Tuula is now 2 ½ years old and is a phenomenal hunter.  She scored a perfect 112 Prize 1 on her NAVHDA Natural Ability test and has been retrieving wild game to hand since her first hunting season at 6 months old.  She has a good temperament and is calm around the house when not hunting.  She and her mother both live in the home with us and are hunting machines in the field.  Their range is close to medium and both perform solid points.  Tuula is 50 lbs and 22” at the withers.  This will be her first litter.
